Built upon a plateau 100 feet above Phoenix, it is no wonder Mormon settlers named their city Mesa. This suburb of Phoenix is one of the fastest growing cities in North America but maintains its bedroom community status despite its growth.

Some of the most popular attractions include the Mesa Arts Center, the largest arts center in the state and contains four theaters, five gallery spaces and 14 visual and performing arts studios. The center also serves has a hub for art education and is the centerpiece of the downtown area.

You don't have to be a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to enjoy the beauty of the Mesa Arizona Temple, a Mormon church. In fact, visitors are encouraged to stroll through the well manicured gardens and absorb the grandiose architecture. The visitor's center, located just north of the temple, offers free tours and exhibitions.

Other attractions include the Arizona Museum of Natural History and the Mesa Amphitheatre.
