Arizona Capitol Musuem - Phoenix, AZ
The Arizona Capitol Museum is housed in a significant stone building topped with a copper dome and a 16-foot, zinc winged Victory statue. Designed by James Riely Gordon, the building opened in 1900 as the State Capitol. The impressive building is surrounded by a well cared landscape. It has served as home to the governor's office until 1974, and earlier housed the two houses of legislature and the Arizona Supreme Court. The museum tells a political story with iartifacts, flags and antique paintings that reveal the state's history.

Discover Arizona history at the over 20 displays that date back to the territorial days. Find period charm in the restored offices and chambers. At Arizona State Symbols display, see the fifteen state symbols that represent Arizona's environment, society and economy. The boxcar filled with gifts on display at The Gratitude Train was a thank you gesture by the French people for American support after World War II. Those who like military history will be interested in the USS Arizona display, which showcases artifacts from World War II.
