Find various forms of native expression such as textiles, paintings, pottery, beadworks, wood carvings and more. Watch the kneaded clay getting fashioned into fine pottery, and traditional basket-making demos. Baskets on display range from a few inch miniatures to full size baskets. These are filled with native foods such as acorns, saguaro seeds and cholla cactus buds and sold as traditional meal baskets.
You can find the finest Hopi jewelry at this festival. Add gold-set lapis lazuli, fossilized ivory, pearls and malachite to your jewelry collection. Apart from that, you will enjoy two full days of music and dance. Watch performances by Pine Tree Apache Crown Dancers from the White Mountain Apache Nation apart from others.
Fill up with native dishes such as Hopi piki, Apache acorn soup and fry bread, but if you are hungry for seafood go down to Durant's (602-264-5967) for lobsters and crab cakes. This popular place is upscale and has an American menu.
